The article "Regression and the Benefits" talks about happiness, it has been created by Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD.
Regression work is a personal growth prcoess that involves recovering events from the past which, if left unresolved, are impacting negatively on our present-day affairs. Unresolved issues can stem from situations in childhood, birth, prenatal states, "past lives" or "between lives". The regression process refers to the client’s experience of "going back" to an important event in his/her past where he/she experiences the event as thoguh it were occurring at that moment. All the appropriate physical and emotional processes can be brought to sensate awareness and thoughts can be expeirenced.
In that state the client gets a "second chance,” to fully experience and process an event from his/her past which, for various reasons, he/she could not or didn’t effectively process at the time of the event. While it is usually fairly not hard for a client to access a past event, it is otfen quite difficult for him/her to allow him/herself to think and express the various emotions he/she had originally suppressed. And yet, unless that is done, healing will only become a partial achievement without a complete resolution of the issues involved. What are the benefits of Regression work?In general, by understanding why one feels the way one feels and processing those feelings; one feels grounded as well as in cmomand and life becomes more enjoyable! The person can raise their level of self-esteem and they become more aware of how they create their own reality. Thus, they become more self-empowered.
As they come to know and accept who they really are, their interaction with the world around them become real, here and at that momnet. Creativity and love flourish. There are no limits to the kind or number of benefits that emanate from regression work—mentally, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. However, some examples are: resolution of relationship difficulties, career success, as well as elimination of nightmares, phobias, obsessions, compulsive or addictive behaviors, chronic physical conditions, memory problems and psychosomatic disorders. Entire books have been written describing examples of that work and the resultant benefits.Regression is effected through several techniques—it is direct, focused and combines healing the past while creating the future.Whatever technique the practitioner might use to help a client get in touch with pertinent material, the client does achieve an altered state of consciousness, a sort of mild trance state (an alpha state) in which his/her attention is focused deeply inward in conjunction with a heightened awareness of both inner and outer goings-on. He/she can hear the facilitator’s vioce and the building noises, and think the temperature of the air in the room, while at the same time be deeply involved in visualizing and feeling the events of a past experience. It is similar to the kind of state achieved when studying intensely for an exam or when watching a movie. There is a part of the person that knows what is happeinng in the here and at that moment reality, so he/she is in control of him/herself and his/her therapy.Dorothy M.
